Foster a Rabbit Today!
We are a small-scale rabbit rescue that relies on foster families in order to save more buns. The more foster families we have, the more buns we can save!
Why foster a rabbit?
Fosters provide rescued rabbits the help they need without a long-term commitment. Rabbits that are socialized in a foster home have a greater chance of being adopted.
What does a foster volunteer do?
Our fosters provide a clean, safe, and loving environment for homeless rabbit(s) on a temporary basis, with our ultimate goal of adopting them into a forever home as soon as a perfect match is found.
What is the time commitment?
At Jade Rabbit Small Animal Rescue we ask for at least a 6-week foster commitment to allow the rabbit to be spayed/neutered (while under the foster care) and to get the medical care they might need before being adopted out. After the 6-weeks are up, it is up to you on how long you want the foster bun to stay in your home - some are short term and some will stay until they find their forever homes.
What does the foster family provide?
A safe environment indoors (with the exception of supervised playtime outside)
Daily care (Food, water, cleaning, etc.)
Clean litter box (roughly every other day)
Fresh greens daily
Fun toys
Lots of love!
Jade Rabbit Small Animal Rescue provides:
An Xpen for housing
Unlimited hay (Orchard Grass or Timothy hay, Alfalfa for young bunnies 0-6months)
Pellets (Oxbow brand)
Food and water bowls
Litter boxes
Litter (Dry Den or Nature’s Bedding pine pellets)
If you would like to provide any of these supplies please let us know. We appreciate any additional help! Donations are tax deductible, let us know if you’d like a receipt.
Foster-to-Adopt Program
Our foster to adopt program is just like our foster program but with the goal to adopt the rabbit you’re fostering. This allows families a three week trial period before committing. During this period, we will consider the rabbit(s) pending adoption in order to give you and your family time to make your decision. If you decide that you’d like to adopt, then we can move forward with our adoption process. If not, then we will gladly take the rabbit(s) back after the 6-week fostering agreement is over (unless space or a different foster becomes available sooner). This is also a great way to make sure the rabbit(s) is a good fit for your family! Contact us for additional information.
